Love this Gabbie! Stories that ring true, that women have all experienced in some way, shape or form.

Add to the layer cake that women also do it to other women.

I have experienced a similar scenario in a school the other day after working there casually since 2019. I was asked to come back in and go over the policies and ways of the school so I could better support teachers there. I declined. The day I worked there and a teacher complained, I had 96 pieces of Grade 3/4 work given to me to correct including persuasive writing essays. Apparently, I made correction errors on some of the spelling tests. I did these corrections whilst teaching all the lessons and supervising the class as a casual relief teacher all at the same time.

As with the book reveal in the gym, I apologised multiple times. Women apologising or taking ownership of a mistake can further encourage others to put them down.

It’s like we have experienced it from men and society, these double standards, and unconsciously, it somehow spills over into how we treat each other.

Oh wow - yes and yes and yes. There's so much in this comment. Wish we could get a cuppa and discuss. For now, I just want to say that I heard the expression "lateral oppression" the other day and it made me immediately think of teachers and the (often terrible) coping mechanisms we're employing when working under unnecessary strain. And the apologising... we need to stop doing that so much, don't we? Oh gosh. Pour the coffee. Let's keep talking.

This story, your story, Gab, made me so, so, so angry! I couldn’t help but wonder if after making you read the rules of gym, did he want you to write them out as well? Just like a naughty school child, in the day.

Take your vibrance, positivity and love elsewhere. I honestly believe that gym was not truly the right one for you! Talk with your feet!!

After reading your for real life story, I just know that your new book will be an absolute success. I am also a true believer in karma ❀️❀️

Thanks Jane. Don't worry, I voted with my feet and with my big mouth. I'll take my sparkle dust to another gym, don't you worry. But for now, just eating a few hot cross buns and reflecting on everything. You know how it is!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. What an arsehole. Vote with your feet and go elsewhere! His lack of respect to you is sickening, to treat anyone in that way is unacceptable. Life is too precious to have to put up with people like him, do you want me to go and kneecap him as punishment?

This message makes me think of that meme "If my sister hates you, then I hate you too."

Love you x

What a douchebag! Yes, I've come across arseholes like him. My sister has a beauty of a story to share with you! An ex-boss. Hopefully she emails it through.

On the bright side, you'll continue to self-reflect on life, and he will just continue to react to situations. I know what camp I'd rather be in.

Rock on sista!

Yeah, I had this whole moment of realisation - "he'll never get it" so I just do my thing and move on. So good to see you here in the comments x
